AND THESE BIRDS CAN SING
A sound and art installation of birdboxes, situated in the peaceful gardens of St. Nicholas’s Church, giving voice to the women of Liverpool. Under the gaze of the third mystery Liver bird, the garden is filled with relaxing birdsong from a collection of birdboxes.
Each brightly coloured birdbox is constructed from wood salvaged from Strawberry Fields and has a unique theme inspired by nature and wildlife. Sculpture, stories and songs are woven into a magical, poignant and uplifting experience, celebrating women from across the city.
Created by Birdcage Stage C.I.C in collaboration with We Want Women, Hope Street Harmonies and Singing Mamas Choir.
The installation can be viewed from 11am - 4pm daily, from 27th July to 15th August 2021. Some times may vary.
Commissioned for Very Public Art by Culture Liverpool and Arts Council England.
